Day 16 Sapa Market and Cat Cat Village

I booked a tour that other travelers had told me gives you a good look into village life, sadly I woke up to find that it had been cancelled. The lady tried anything to get me on one of the other tours but I am not really equipped to go hiking having only brought some Converses and was really only interested in seeing the village life. I finally got my money back and set out to make this, my last day in Sapa, more interesting than the past few.

I headed to the tourism office and got directions to the Cat Cat village and took off in that direction. What the nice fellow at the office failed to mention was that the hike way down and then way way back up. I had the option to hire a motorbike but I am too freaked to try one as I haven't driven since 2007, maybe later....

The village was well, I don't know. I didn't really think I saw much village. I saw a waterfall. I saw a few houses and some rice fields....also, a school and yes, a few shops...go figure. Overall it was a nice hike. I met up with some people during my trek back up to town and put together that this was the tour that the lady was trying to persuade me to join. I paid about a dollar to go to the village and the tour was about 11 so I guess I came out on the better end of this situation. Still wish I could have seen more of village life, but them are the breaks I guess.
