Today I had booked a ticket to Chiang Mai in hopes to get on with my travels and spend time in Bangkok later. I did however have the day to meander around as I was booked on the night train. I hooked up with a few girls from the hostel to visit the weekend market. Let me talk about how I will be spending an entire day/large sum of money/baggage allowance there before I leave this place. I showed some stellar restraint, only purchasing a pair of sunglasses, but I will be back.
The train was a bit of a surprise. At first I thought the guesthouse had ripped me off as I couldn't see how this train was a sleeper train. Each "compartment" had four big chairs. Is that where you curl up?? But after I sat down someone explained how it all worked and then I relaxed and got to know some of the people I was sitting with. All and all a decent experience I would rank as better than China and less stellar than Vietnam. But being in the middle isn't so bad sometimes.
I wanted to take some pictures but my camera has been acting up. Hopefully I can get that sorted in the next few days!
